Now that summer is here, we can finally let color splash our world with essential pieces in all classifications. We love color bottoms in a wide leg, skinny or a trouser in bright hues. Brights go brighter and pastels rule mainly in lightweight denim as well as in alternative fabrics. Go out to the stores and you will find an array of this summer essential!

We were wondering…why is Australia so amazing? To get some answers and to elaborate on our current fascination with the Aussies, we met up with Andie Verbance from Addison Crescent to get the inside scoop on MBFW Australia. Andie pointed out that the Australian shows were much like the classic New York shows that happen every season however the people attending were the main focus other than some of the key designers that were showing. Attending Australia Fashion Week has become a vital source of the industry, adds Andie, because it provides a gateway to a whole new world that values the lifestyle of the industry and is full of collections sought after in the States. Right near the Opera House, the shows happen in a studio where the attendees can choose the time, place and designer they want to see. MBFW Australia is a MUST DO on next seasons to do list and we’re so happy Andie Verbance cleared this up for us.

The fashionista’s were out in full force at the opening party for Scoop Brentwood. The excitement for this retailer’s first foray onto the West Coast was felt by all. This neighborhood inspired store that carries both women’s and men’s contemporary designer collections felt warm with its color-by-design technique merchandising and friendly staff. Stand-outs in women’s were the choices in color/printed denim, striped maxi dresses, feminine blouses, cut-off shorts, and fringe sweaters and in men’s, were the accessories, red as the color of choice, linen shirting’s, shorts and graphic tees. There were flowing pastel inspired cocktails, Scoop cookies, and music by the talented DJ Ms. Nix. Guests including actors, designers, and fashion lovers shopped, even though the space was spilling out with so many in attendance. With not many new stores opening in the Los Angeles area, this gives true anticipation to what will come with the positivity we are seeing in retail. This store is a shopping haven to the Westside and has all the ingredients for success.

Numerous stars came out this past weekend for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards looking like pretty, pretty princesses. Tulle and sparkle dominated the fairytale-like looks while pastel hues added an ethereal vibe.

Long, short, fitted or flared; the Met Gala was a feast for our eyes with the best dressed celebs and fashion pioneers. The leading ladies of the night astonished with feathers being a key detail like Beyoncé’s Givenchy Haute Couture number and Kate Bosworth’s perfect for her age and her personal style mini feathered ombre Prada halter dress. Even though we loved their looks, want to know our winner for the night? Camilla Belle and her outstanding old Hollywood siren ensemble by an American classic: Ralph Lauren. But seriously, how can we not add Rachel Zoe to the mix? We love that she can’t get rid of her LA style with her fringed off the shoulder floor gazing dress, her very own design. Our follow ups worth noting were Lana Del Ray, Rihanna, Rooney Mara, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Joann Smalls. ‘Till the next red carpet extravaganza…

Looking for a quiet place to shop? One of our favorite go to locations is Larchmont. With stores like LF and Library, you’ll be able to get your fix of the latest cotemporary goods all in one day. Go to LF to score on Jeffrey Campbell’s of some awesome Car Mar shorts. Dig through because items don’t last long in there! If you are out for some big-ticket shopping, Library is full of Rag & Bone and Helmut Lang in a totally rad setting that transports you directly to an old school library setting. Stop by ‘lette for an afternoon snack a la Parisian with their coveted macaroons. There are tons of other little restaurants and stores like a brand new Tom’s Shoes store that are worth walking into. We love Larchmont and is on top of our list for a quiet day shopping.
